Alaska 2009

Greetings from Alaska

Patty and I have now successfully driven the Alaskan Highway. It is a long way to get to the start at Dawson Creek and a long way from Dawson Creek to Alaska. We spent a total of 5 days driving with a stop the first night in Billings Montana to visit my sister and her family.

We drove north from Billings through 18" of snow in Great Falls Montana and crossed into Canada on I 15.

The next four days were just long driving days, but we were able to see some really beautiful country. Going through Alberta, British Columbia, and the Yukon Territory provided us with some fantastic scenery. We also saw plenty of wildlife including, coyotes, Woodland Carribou, Moose, Elk, Buffalo, fox, etc, etc.

We will be moving into our house for the summer tomorrow. There was a little mixup with the current occupant and she will not be able to be out until tomorrow. It is really in a beautiful spot and surrounded by mountains with the Turnagain Arm out in front. The current occupant said she has watched Beluga whales from the Deck of the house. I will post a picture.

There are plenty of hiking trails and a bike trail right out our door for Patty to run on and for me to bike on.

We visited Anchorage today and discovered they have all the same stores we have in Minnesota. Imagine that!!

We are set for a great summer and will try to post as we have time with updates and pictures.

Take care.
